Paul Hart received the boot from Portsmouth earlier this week, in what can only be described as fairly harsh circumstances.

Yes his team was fairly poor, but was Hart solely to blame? Not in personal opinion. He kept the club in the Premier last season after Tony Adams’ disastrous spell and then received a blow when the club’s poor financial situation resulted in the club having to sell their top players and with no funds for replacements.

However, I guess we should move on and look to the future who arrives in the shape of portly Israeli Avram Grant – a man with much to prove and his unfair sacking by Chelsea a few years ago.

Congratulations must go to the recently crowned Formula One World Champion, Jenson Button.

His wonderful, fairytale start to the season set the foundations for this most unlikely of championship victories.

After all, weeks before the start of the season when every other team was busy practising Jenson and his team didn’t even know if they would be competing due to Honda’s decision to pullout of the sport.

With the final race of the current season over attention is already turning to 2010.

And the current rumour is that Button could end up with fellow Brit, Lewis Hamilton, racing at McLaren.

If that rumour turns out to be true, 2010 could be an even more exciting season.

Further bad week for Scottish Football

It has been another dismal week for Scottish football fans.

First Rangers were humbled 1-4 by Unirea Urziceni, Celtic fell to a 0-1 defeat from Hamburg and all this on the back of Scotland losing 2-0 to Japan.

To make matters worse, both the Old Firm were playing at home meaning that their already slim chances of qualifying for the next stage of the European and Europa Cups respectively seem remote.

If anything it shows that the whole of Scottish football needs a major overhaul, otherwise the country’s decline in the game is only going to continue.
